What do all of these things have in common? They’re all expensive and they all have a warranty and when something goes wrong with them, you want them all repaired under the warranty. But sometimes, companies do not honor the warranties like they should. So what should you do when you have something that is not working like it should?
1. First, document everything. Keep a notebook with a list of the problems, when they appeared, and who you notified about the problems.
2. Call the person who sold you the product and tell them about the problems. Word of mouth goes a long way and sellers know that if you are unhappy with the product, you are likely to tell a lot of people.
3. Find your warranty documents and notify the seller and the manufacturer of the problems as soon as possible in the way it says to provide notice in the warranty. That means that you need to put your complaints in writing. Send the letter certified mail so there won’t be any question down the road as to whether you notified every one of the problems.
4. If you exhaust these steps and still don’t have your problem solved, seek the advice of an attorney. Make sure to bring your written warranty with you when you meet with the attorney.
